Ströbel sets course for the PPWR
by Birgit Kraus
Ströbel sets the course for the PPWR:
Training, industry engagement and structured preparation
The new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation PPWR brings far-reaching changes for the entire packaging industry. Ströbel is preparing early and in a structured manner for the upcoming requirements in order to fulfill its role responsibly along the supply chain.
Our goal is to align internal processes, data structures and information flows in such a way that we can fulfill our tasks as a supplier clearly and reliably – while supporting our customers in the best possible way.

Continuous training – internal and external
The PPWR is complex, which is why Ströbel relies on regular training:
- Internal training for teams from Sales, Purchasing, QM and Product Management
- External specialist seminars and information events with experts
- Active exchange on detailed questions and implementation strategies
“Only if all parties involved have a shared understanding of the requirements can we provide sound information along the supply chain,” says Marcus Mayr, Head of Quality Management at Ströbel.
Active industry involvement – member of the IK industry association
Ströbel is a member of the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen (German Plastics Packaging Association). The association pools specialist knowledge, monitors the political development of the PPWR and provides practical assessments of regulatory changes.
Through its active involvement in IK, Ströbel benefits from:
- early insights into legislative procedures
- expert evaluation of technical requirements
- exchange with other companies in the industry
- “The association’s work helps us assess regulatory developments realistically and integrate them into our processes,” Mayr adds.
Taking responsibility – within our role
The PPWR presents challenges for the industry, but also offers opportunities to make packaging solutions more sustainable and future-proof.
Ströbel therefore follows a clear approach:
Inform early – prepare in a structured way – provide competent support – within the defined role in the packaging supply chain.
